Control Consoles

CC 5000 & CC 7000 Monitor spark detection and immediately activate countermeasures

The GreCon control console is the core of a spark detection system. It displays, analyzes and stores all events. When alarms occur, countermeasures can be automatically initiated.

Robust, dust-proof housings for industrial conditions. Each console uses an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and maintenance-free batteries. The UPS can be interconnected with extension units for additional power source monitoring and supply.

NEW! Multi-touch screen display tremendously improves the ease of use of your control console. 10 inch color screen with multi-touch display allow you to quickly search for information from any display in a compact and efficient manner. Complete process flow sheets can be used to indicate alarm locations and the user can quickly examine details by zooming into the affected zone using a simple touch gesture. Multiple languages are pre-installed and can be selected at any time.

Sensor are automatically tested at regular intervals, substantially reducing manual checks. Sensor and extinguishing valve circuits are constantly monitored for trouble such as opens and shorts.

A variable alarm concept allows for different responses to different event levels. The system can be set up to extinguish a single spark, automatically divert the material flow, and/or shutdown machinery during abnormal spark activity.

Repeated spark detection within short time intervals can give insight into a faulty production process. To be notified of this condition or to avoid long extinguishments, an additional alarm can be activated or the affected production process can be shutdown automatically.

The GreCon Control Console stores thousands of events, which can be shown in a full graphic LC display at any time. Each event is logged to the millisecond allowing personnel to identify a chain of events. All recorded events can be transferred to a PC for detailed analysis and evaluation to identify potentially hazardous areas or malfunctioning processes and equipment.

The system is flexible enough to be employed in hundreds of applications through the organization of sensor groups, extinguishment groups and alarm relays. One sensor can activate one extinguishment and alarm relays; a group of sensors can activate one extinguishment and alarm relays, or a group of sensors can activate a group of extinguishments and alarm relays. For example, alarm relays can be set up to activate abort gates, additional horns and lights, or an equipment shutdown. The alarm relays can also be connected to a PLC to customize other countermeasures.

GreCon Spark Detection Systems can be configured with over 100 user-defined zones. The system can start out small to fit your current needs. With the use of modular construction and extendable cabinets, your system can grow as your needs grow. You can add one zone, ten zones, or any combination as your facility demands. With the remote operation panel, all events can be displayed in the facility control room or other location. The remote operation panel instantly provides control room personnel with alarm information allowing them to take action quickly, notify equipment operators and maintenance personnel, or take other appropriate action.

Control Console Principle

Multi-microprocessor based modular designed control consoles receive and process signals from the sensors, initiating user-defined countermeasures according to predefined alarm limits. Alarm limits may be set according to frequency of sparks or duration of spark activity. Alarm conditions can trigger extinguishment valves, abort or diverter gates, deluge valves, or initiate the user's PLC for programmed responses.

The control console is furnished as an IP 55 enclosure with uninterruptible power supply, circuit protection devices, and standby batteries. A large display with graphic capability that displays alarms, number of sparks, extinguishing time, zone identification, date and time. Programmable sparks threshold, time threshold and adjustable extinguishing time. Storage of thousands of events are recorded exactly to the millisecond. Input interface devices monitor water booster pump status, central water flow, and heat tape monitor. Additionally, these devices provide inputs from external sources such as manual switches for system disabling and manual extinguishment abort, or from relay inputs. The system is expandable with two additional extension units to increase zone capacity.

Line modules supervise and control up to 4 channels and offer a variety of customizing options. Microprocessor based modules with automatic system testing for sparks, wire ruptures, and short circuits. Activates extinguishment valve and alarm relay in milliseconds. Activation of 2nd Alarm Relay and extinguishment if spark count or duration thresholds are exceeded. Wiring connection block for spark sensors, extinguishment valves, and water flow switches. Up to ten voltage-free relay contacts per line module to indicate alarm and trouble conditions as well as for machinery shutdown, interlocking circuits or PLC connection.

Line module provides up to 6 valve outputs to activate extinguishing devices from an alarm in up to 4 detection areas. Input interface devices provide up to 6 control signals to disable zone using an access door limit switch, disable extinguishment for maintenance, or extinguish until reset switch.
